Taking care of your new puppy can be exhausting and overwhelming at times, but finding out the right ways to quiet down your ball of energy can make the whole experience even more fun.

Your puppy’s energy levels would most definitely differ from yours from day to day. They may either want to sleep while you play with them, or you may want to sleep or clean while they demand your full attention.

Finding ways to quiet your dog down from an agitated state can come in handy anytime you want to chill or don’t want your puppy jumping up on visitors. Setting aside plenty of time for them to spend their energy is a key component of getting a calm puppy.

Allow them to run around outdoors, throw a ball, play tug-of-war, and take an appropriate distanced stroll! Puppies must play and be busy in order to be safe and happy.

Playing will tire them out, allowing them to settle down more quickly when you need them to. Plus, playing with your puppy is enjoyable!

It is important that your body language and behavior represent a soothing attitude if you want your puppy to be relaxed.

Try listening to your puppy in low, slow tones without making any sudden movements. When they come to sit next to you, quietly pet them. If your dog attempts to leap up at you to play, simply ignore them before they resist. Offer them your undivided attention and love after they have stopped.

Use rewards to teach them to sit or lie down on orders, and try to give them a reward every now and then while they are sitting or lying down. You should also try teaching your dog to stop, lie down, go to their crate, or rest in some manner on orders.

When your dog is completely trained, he or she will be able to physically calm down more quickly, particularly when there are visitors or distractions around.
